Shri A.K.Mukherjee did his Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from B.E.College, Shibpore, West Bengal and joined NTPC as 6^th. batch Executive Trainee in 1981. He has worked in NTPC Ltd. for almost 39 years in various capacity and discipline and retired as Executive Director (Business Excellence) CC in February 2020. Before his tenure in Business Excellence dept he was Head of Project of Rihand STPP as GGM/CGM and Ex.Dir. In his tenure, Rihand STPP achieved its peak performance and became overall champion wining Swarna Shakti award (17-18) for the first time. Under his guidance MEEP type ESP was erected and commissioned in Rihand plant for the first time in India. During his long carrier in NTPC, he has worked in Operation, commissioning and electrical maintenance department looking after operation of boiler/turbine, commissioning of 500MW units and maintenance of various electrical equipments like Generator, Motors, EHV/HV/MV/LV Switchgears in various plants of NTPC. He has also worked in Operation Services department at Corporate Centre conducting RCA for various problems, formulating maintenance strategy and monitoring health of major equipments for improvement of reliability and performance of electrical system as a whole. He has also worked as General Manager(Maint.) and General Manager(O&M) in NTPC Rihand STPP looking after O&M of 6X500MW Rihand STPP. He has introduced Natural Frequency Testing of Generator winding to reduce winding failure for which he was invited to present paper in IRIS rotating machine conference held in USA.
